Refresh data in publication

Update

Update is the type of refresh when the data in publication is updated by the current data. This action doesn't create or delete any line in publication.

Typically this action is used, when you make a manual changes in publication and you don't want to lose these changes. For example when you prepare a brochure, you select what should be in brochure in publications, but later on you need to update texts or another data by newer.

Reorganize

Basically the whole publication or selected part is re-created again. It means it can delete or add a new entries.

Typically this is used when the output is generated directly base on rules and nobody makes a change in the publication data. For example e-shop integration is a type where we used this type.

User case

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Publications (Publication Management/Publications), and then choose the related link.
  2. Open Publication Card for which you want update the publication.
  3. Click on Update Publication or Reorganize Publication on the Actions Ribbon Tab under Function.
    1. Update have following options
      • Delete bad references - when an entity on a line doesn't exist it will be deleted from the publication
      • Skip bad references - when an entity on a line doesn't exist it will skip it and keep the old data
      • Error on bad references - when an entity on a line doesn't exist it will show na error and stop the update.

If you want to update or reorganize only one Publication line in Publication Structure, you can click on this line and in Ribbon Tab Actions click on Update or Reorganize Publication Line.
