Import ETIM Classification

For background and prerequisites, see ETIM overview.

  1. Open the ETIM model releases page.

  2. Clean up the IXF namespaces.

    2.1 Open the ETIM file in an editor, for example Visual Studio Code.

    2.2 On line 3, locate the IXF root element, for example <IXF xmlns:xsi="...">.

    2.3 Delete everything else on that opening-tag line and keep only <IXF>.

    2.4 Save the ETIM file.

  3. Choose the Search icon, enter Import ETIM Classification, and then choose the related link to open the import wizard.

  4. Choose the AssistEdit button (...) to open File Explorer.

  5. Select the file, and then confirm the selection.

  6. When the file name appears in the File field, choose Next.

  7. On the Classification Settings page, specify values for these fields:

    7.1 Classification System Version: for example, 9.0

    7.2 Group System ID: the prefix

    7.3 Language: en-US, en-GB, and so on

  8. Choose Finish.

After the import completes, review the imported classification.

View the classification

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Group Systems, and then choose the related link.
  2. Find your imported ETIM version in the list (for example, ETIM 9.0).
  3. Open the Group System card to view details.
  4. On the Group System card, you can:
    • View the classification hierarchy with classes, subclasses, and groups
    • See a preview of features and keywords associated with each class
    • Verify that the import was successful and all classes are present
