Category history

Overview

Pimics can track and display the history of category cards, allowing users to review changes that were made at specific points in time.

Prerequisites

Caution
  • Catalog Setup must have the History section configured with "Keep Category Versions" set either to:
    • When certified
    • On Certification
  • Category must have checklist assigned
  • User must run "Certify" action on the category

What gets stored in the history card

Versions that are created and displayed as history cards contain all data that is stored on the PIM Category card:

  • Category details
  • Product features
  • Catalog documents
  • Catalog keywords
  • Description texts
  • Catalog translations
  • Channel allocations
  • Allocation lines

All data is displayed in the same way as on the regular PIM Category card, but in read-only mode. The state of the category is captured at the moment of a specific certification, including lines that failed certification.

Open the history card

There are two ways to open the history card:

  1. From the History FactBox on the Category card.
  2. From the PIM Versions list, which is located on the Related tab of the Category card in the History section.

History FactBox

The History FactBox contains information about versions of the category that were created over time. It displays all versions with their number, creation date and time, and the user who created the version. Users can select a version and open it as a read-only PIM Category card by clicking History and selecting Show as PIM Card. The History FactBox can be exported to Excel by using the Open in Excel action.

History List

In the PIM Versions list, users can see all versions of the category that were created over time. It displays the same information as the History FactBox, but in list format. Users can select a version and open it as a read-only PIM Category card by selecting Show as PIM Card.

Show Details

In the PIM Versions list, users can select a version and click Show Details. This opens the details of the version in a pop-up called History Details, where users can see all information about the version, including lines that failed certification. This action only shows details of the version and does not open the PIM Category card.

Show Raw Data

In the PIM Versions list, users can select a version and click Show Raw Data. This opens a pop-up window with the raw data of the version displayed as a string with fields and their values. This action is only for viewing raw data and does not open the PIM Category card.

Restore data from history

Users can restore data from an earlier version of a category by selecting Restore Data in the PIM Versions list or in the History Details pop-up. When a user selects this action, Pimics creates a new version in history with the restored data. The restored data is the same as in the selected historical version, but it is saved with a new creation date and time and the user who performed the restore action. After the restore action is completed, the user can see the restored data both on the regular PIM Category card and in history as a new version. All other versions remain available in history, and the user can still open them or restore data from them if needed. This action allows users to revert changes made to a category by restoring data from an earlier version.
