Working with description texts on items & categories

Texts are used to describe general information and make it possible to define a graphical layout for that information, such as bold or italic formatting.

Texts can be translated into different languages and linked to various entities (item, item group, product group, etc.). They can be imported in bulk from an Excel file, or they can be defined directly on any selected entity.

Create a text on an item

  1. Using Alt+Q, search for Items and open the relevant link, or access Product Information > Items.
  2. Select an item in the list and open its item card.
  3. On the item card, go to the Descriptions FastTab.
    Note

If you cannot see the FastTab mentioned above, please check your Pimics license.

  4. In the newly opened list, create a new line and specify the following:
    1. Select Description Class from the list

prod-text-1

  1. If you do not see any line in the lookup, create a new description class:
    1. In the dropdown, select New.
    2. A new page opens.
    3. Set the Code field. It can be any name you require, for example BASE or MANUFACTURER.
    4. Select OK to close the page.
    5. Select the description class.
  2. Click Edit Text in the upper pane to specify the product description in rich-text format.

prod-text-2

Rich text

Pimics 365 lets you create rich text for entities and attach it to the entity card. The same specific description and extended text can be used for items.

Create and add a rich description to the Entity

  1. Go to the list of the entity (Product Information / Item, Item Group, Product Group, Chapter, or Catalog Group) for which you want to add a description.
  2. Choose and open the Entity Card from the list.
  3. On the ribbon, click the Description button in the Master Data / PIM section.
  4. Click New or select a new line.
  5. Select a Description Class from the list or create a new one that defines the purpose of the description.
  6. Select Extended Text Code if you want to add prepared text, or on the Home ribbon tab click Edit Text to open the editor and enter the text.
  7. The Description Title field is filled automatically from the Description Class.
  8. Source Type and Source Code provide information about the source of the description.
