Export DataNorm files

Use DataNorm export to deliver product data from a Pimics publication to a partner that uses the DataNorm format. Pimics generates the main file DATANORM.001 when you publish the DataNorm channel.

PRECONDITIONS
  • The DataNorm extension is installed.
  • A publication exists and contains the product data you want to send.
  • The publication has an export channel.

Configure a DataNorm channel

  1. Select Search (Alt+Q), enter Publications, and choose the related link.
  2. Open the publication that will provide the partner data.
  3. Open or create an Export Channel.
  4. Set Publish Type to DataNorm.
  5. On the publication card, set DataNorm Version to 4.0 or 5.0, according to the partner's requirements.
  6. Save the publication.
Note

DataNorm 4.0 is encoded for the legacy DataNorm format. Select it only when the receiving partner requires version 4.0.

Publish the DataNorm file

  1. Select Search (Alt+Q), enter Publications, and choose the related link.
  2. Open the publication with the DataNorm channel.
  3. Refresh or prepare the publication data if the source data has changed.
  4. Select Publish.
  5. When the download starts, save DATANORM.001 and provide it to the partner.

The export is created from publication lines. Product descriptions, texts, pictures, and other output are included only when the corresponding data is present in the publication and supported by the selected DataNorm version.

Output by version

  • 4.0 — generates DATANORM.001 with the version-4 header and A/B item lines.
  • 5.0 — generates the version-5 item output and can include supported text, graphics, and feature lines from the publication.

DataNorm export does not create separate product-group, price, or ZIP files. If a partner requires additional files or line types, confirm that requirement before promising the output.
