Working with ETIM on Items

Assign an item to an ETIM 10.0 class

Note

This example uses ETIM 10.0. The same process can be used for other ETIM versions and classifications.

PRECONDITIONS

Before you use this process, install the ETIM 10.0 classification. See Import ETIM Classification.

  1. Choose the search icon, enter Items, and then choose the related link.
  2. Select an item or create a new one.
  3. Choose the Classes action in the PIM group.
  4. On the Catalog Classes page, set the Number field to the desired ETIM class.
  5. Verify that ETIM 10.0 is visible in the Group System Number field.
  6. Choose OK to close the page.
  7. Choose the Features action in the PIM group.
  8. On the Features page, review all features from the selected class.
  9. Select a line, and then enter a value in the Value field manually or by using the lookup page.
  10. Choose OK to close the page.
  11. Choose the Keywords action in the PIM group.
  12. On the Keywords page, you can review all synonyms from the selected class.
  13. Choose OK to close the page.

Upgrade an ETIM class to a newer version

You can upgrade ETIM classes in ETIM Upgrade Report or in Catalog Classes.

We recommend using the Upgrade Report because it upgrades all ETIM classes at once across item cards.

Caution

Import the higher ETIM version into PIMICS first.

Upgrade/merge settings

Depending on the setting in Catalog Setup, classes behave differently during an upgrade.

On the General tab, use the After Merge Class setting:

  • If Keep Original is selected, PIMICS keeps the original ETIM version on the entity and also adds the new version.
  • Keep failed leaves only ETIM classes that were not successfully upgraded on the entity, and removes older classes that were successfully upgraded.
  • Delete always removes the older ETIM class after upgrade.
Warning

The Delete option can result in data loss if the ETIM version import was not completed correctly. We recommend selecting Keep failed in Catalog Setup.

ETIM Upgrade Report

To upgrade your ETIM class to a newer version:

  1. Search for ETIM Upgrade Report.
  2. Select either: a. Latest ETIM Version if you want to upgrade to the highest present version. b. Upgrade to version if you want to upgrade to a specific version.
  3. In Filter, you can select the Type and Code of a specific entity to upgrade. If you want to upgrade all classes, leave the filter blank.
  4. You can now choose: a. Schedule to run the upgrade at a specific time. b. OK to confirm and run the upgrade now. c. Cancel to stop the upgrade.

Specific class upgrade

  1. Open Class on a specific entity, or search for Catalog Classes.
  2. Select the class you want to Upgrade/Merge, and then confirm the action.
