You can generate alternative picture descriptions with Pimics AI in a structured workflow that supports accessible e-commerce, including visitors who are blind and rely on screen readers to understand what a product picture shows. Instead of preparing alt texts manually for each asset, you can generate proposals faster and keep wording more consistent across product assortments.
The feature combines earlier concept work with production rollout in Pimics365 so teams can move from experimentation to operational usage. It reduces repetitive text-entry effort for content teams and helps standardize AI-generated image descriptions through shared setup and review actions, while improving the readability of product content for all visitors.
Where to start
PRECONDITIONS
Before you start, set AI Image Description Class and AI Image Description Deployment in Pimics AI Setup.
- Select Search (Alt+Q), enter PIMX Picture List, and choose the related link.
- Select one or more pictures, then run Generate Alternative Description.
- For a single picture proposal, review the dialog Alternative Description Proposal and use Keep it, Regenerate, or Discard.
- Confirm accepted text using Confirm AI Generated Description or Keep AI suggestion on text records.
Technical Changes
The update adds a complete flow for AI-generated image descriptions: generate proposals, review them, and confirm accepted text. The main user entry points are PIMX Picture List and PIMX Catalog Rich Text List, with actions for generation and confirmation.
Setup was extended in PIMX AI Document Setup to control AI Image Description Class and AI Image Description Deployment. The process uses the PIMX Alt Description Proposal dialog and related AI service codeunits to deliver the end-to-end workflow.
