Working with translations

Pimics allows to translate anything to as many languages as you need to have.

Lifecycle of translations

We keep different states on the translations to help you to identify what needs to be done with a text.

Translate descriptions

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Catalog Translations, and then choose the related link.
  2. Select a specific line and fill up field Description it contains a translation of text in Base Description to language defined in field Langauge Code
  3. Under Actions select Confirm to finish the translation.

Translate rich texts

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Text Translations, and then choose the related link.
  2. Select a specific line
  3. Fill up Foreign Language Descripton, it contains a translation of text in Base Langauge Description to language defined in field Langauge Code
  4. Select Confirm Translations to finish the translation.

Automatic Translations (AI translations)

We offer a function to get a translations from 3rd parties or AI. Currently we support only DeepL.

Configuration of the service and run

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Catalog Setup, and then choose the related link.
  2. Define the type of the service in Translation API Type in the group Translations
  3. Also field Tranlsation API Auth needs to be fill up. See details per service.
  4. Choose the Search icon, enter Catalog Translation, and then choose the related link.
  5. Select one or more lines
  6. Run action Pre-Translate
  7. You get translations into field Description and values in the field Translation Type have been updated to AI Translated or AI Adapted

DeepL

Pimics needs to have access to DeepL API. DeepL provides several plans so see details in DeepL plans. DeepL API Free is enough for Pimics, but be careful about limits in every plan. To start with free version, open DeepL API Free and Sign up for free, than follow instructions on web pages. The account is shared for all users.

To define the Deepl account in Pimics follow these steps:

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Pimics Authentications, and then choose the related link.
  2. Create a New entry
  3. Fill up these values into fields:
    1. DEEPL in the field Code
    2. Access Key in the field Type
  4. Go to your DeepL acount and follow DeepL steps to create a new API key
  5. Place the Access Key from DeepL to the field Key
  6. Define the service in Catalog Setup

Set-up language for Pimics

Pimics allows translating descriptions and rich texts for enabled languages.

To enable language for Pimics translations

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Catalog Setup, and then choose the related link.
  2. Scroll down to Languages in Pimics, there are Languages which are allowed in Pimics.
  3. You can add or delete line.
  4. Confirm the message Do you want to add language to catalogue?
