Pimics license update

Pimics has different editions, as described in our price list. A Pimics license is assigned to an individual company in Business Central, and if a company doesn't have a valid license Pimics cannot be used there.

If the license has expired, users will see this as a notification in the Pimics role center with an option to extend the license validity.

Setting up periodical Pimics license updates

Using periodical Pimics license updates in Job Queue Entries, the Pimics PIM module can update the license expiration date without user interaction. The process just takes a second and it has no influence on the performance of the system.

To use this feature, the extension Pimics PIM needs to have Allow HttpClient Requests enabled.

  1. Using search enter the term Extension Management and open the related link
  2. In the existing list of extensions, find the line with Pimics PIM extension which has the Is Installed = true
  3. Click on the name of the extension Pimics PIM to enter the extension settings
  4. In the extension settings, set Allow HttpClient Requests to true
  5. Pimics PIM extension is now enabled to call the license service

In the following scenario, you will create the Job Queue Entry to run Pimics license update

Create and run the Pimics license update job

  1. Choose the Search icon, enter Job Queue Entries, and then choose the related link
  2. Click New
  3. Set the field Object Type to Run = Codeunit
  4. Set the field Object ID to Run = 70113818
  5. On the Description field set a title for the job, like Periodical Pimics license update
  6. Open the Recurrence tab and select which days the job queue entry will run

    The recommended period is at least two times per week, not longer than 5 days between the checks For example, set Run on Mondays and Run on Fridays

  7. Set Starting Time at any convenient time. For example, 6:00:00
  8. Leave the rest of the fields with their default values
  9. Click on the Set Status to Ready to enable the job queue
  10. The job queue entry is scheduled and will run periodically at defined days and time

When you don't have a Pimics license for the company. Open Catalog Setup and run ActionsDisable Pimics.

For an environment with more than one company, each company that uses Pimics PIM extension needs to have its own job queue entry set up.
